IMOLA (Italy), 5 July 2019. Today, on Friday 5th July 2019, the foundation stone laying ceremony was held for the new TeaPak headquarters, a key project that has been wholly entrusted to the Cefla Engineering Business Unit.

The plant will be built in Imola’s industrial zone (between Via Gambellara and Via Bicocca). Cefla will be operating as general contractor, that is, overseeing the entire project: from construction of the facilities (with site management and works supervision performed by Cims and Cti) to the design and installation of latest-generation electrical, mechanical, air treatment, water distribution and special fire-fighting systems.

TeaPak is an Imola-based company that has, since 2001, been the European hub for the blending, teabag filling and packing of herbal teas made under the Yogi Tea brand, a multinational with its head offices in the USA and Germany. This latest TeaPak production plant will, in this primary phase, cover a total of 12,000 square meters, sub-divided into three work zones (production, offices and plant engineering systems) and an external road network area. The overall investment – in the buildings, the plant engineering and the installation of advanced industrial machines, all from Italy’s ‘Packaging Valley’ – has an estimated value of 25 million euro. In this first phase, the new facility will result in a doubling of current output, which, in 2018, exceeded 40 million packs containing 578 million teabags. Once up and running at full capacity, output is expected to quadruple.

“When it comes to acting as general contractor, Cefla is far from a newcomer. We’ve already been awarded major assignments, such as the redevelopment of the cogeneration plant in the Tor di Valle district, Rome, on behalf of Acea and in partnership with General Electric”, states Gianmaria Balducci, president of Cefla. “This time, we’re working in the very area where our cooperative was founded back in 1932. In a project such as this, it’s essential to be both the ‘local skills hub’ and, at the same time, provide our unique technical expertise, especially as regards plant engineering. We also provide the financial solidity necessary to meet the quality standards expected by the investor, a renowned international brand”.

“Today, we celebrate a milestone, one that we’ve been working towards for a long time, a goal that gives our company and our brand renewed boost and new opportunities”, comments Andrea Costa, managing director di TeaPak. “TeaPak, together with Yogi Tea, a multinational and the world leader in organic and ayurvedic teas, has put down solid roots in Imola by purchasing land from Cti and now, 8 months on, has laid the foundation stone of its new factory. Our mission is to serve and inspire and to keep on creating well-being through the products we made and sell worldwide, including the well-being of our people, because without them, all of this wouldn’t have been possible. We’re proud that the Yogi Tea Group has trusted us by approving a project involving an investment of over 25 million euros. We’re proud that they’ve chosen to believe in us, in people who work in Imola, rewarding their long-standing passion, dedication and expertise. This key investment”, continues Costa, “will also bring prestige to our territory: the new headquarters will be characterised by ‘high sustainability’ thanks to the design by Open Project and the construction by Cefla, a solid business, well known by our overseas partners, that has brought in Cti and Cims as major sub-contractors. Only 500 metres separate us from our new home, but there’s still some way to go. Yet we’ve always been thrilled by challenges and we hope we can meet us again a few months from now to celebrate the operational start-up of our new headquarters”.

Work was started on 14th March 2019 and the foundations have already been built. Final delivery of the facilities, in which TeaPak will install the manufacturing machines, is scheduled for February 2020.
