An event to look back over two decades of innovation and success that began with the “NewTom QR-DVT 9000 or Maxiscan”, and to look ahead, sharing experiences and opinions with high profile scientists and partners.

VERONA 7 luglio 2016. A scientific convention to celebrate 20 years of NewTom and of the “NewTom QR-DVT 9000 or Maxiscan”, the forerunner and cornerstone of all NewTom devices and all Cone Beam technology based X-Ray units. The event, organised by NewTom, a brand of Cefla Medical Equipment, took place on 1 July in the captivating setting of Lake Garda, at the prestigious Borgo Machetto resort in Desenzano. Numerous highly qualified presentations were made, chaired by Prof. Silvio Diego Bianchi (University of Turin and President of SIROM, the Italian association of odontostomatology and maxillofacial radiology) and Prof. Karin Näsström (Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm). The event opened with a presentation by Paolo Bussolari, President of QR (NewTom) and Managing Director of Cefla Medical Equipment and Claudiano Tagliareni, Sales and Marketing Manager for NewTom.

“Twenty years ago,” said Paolo Bussolari in his welcoming statement to participants, “NewTom created the world’s first CBCT, the NewTom QR DVT 9000, the forerunner of all current Cone Beam devices. We wanted to celebrate this important milestone and these twenty years of success in the radiology field together with our partners. This scientific meeting will allow us to share high-profile experiences and opinions, letting us celebrate the past while looking to the future, a promising future of innovation and success.”

Numerous presentations were made by professionals, scientists and technicians: the three founders and inventors of the NewTom CBCT, Pierluigi Mozzo and Attilio Tacconi, medical physicists and founders of Pixirad IC and Gianmaria Tommasi, Chairman of Pixirad IC and Valpolicella Benaco Banca; Prof. Jan W. Casselmanm, Head of the Radiology Department, AZ Sint-Jan Brugge, Prof. Roberto Maroldi, of the Radiology Department of the University of Brescia, Prof. Gang Li, Peking University School and Hospital of Stomatology; Prof. Paolo Cattaneo, Msc., Phd; Prof. Reinhilde Jacobs, OMFS-IMPATH research Group, University Hospital Leuven; Prof. Stefania Montemezzi, University Hospital of Verona; Doctors Giacomo Schenal and Ilaria Baglio, University Hospital of Verona; Dr. Chistos Angelopolus, American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology, New York.

The scientific day concluded in the magnificent setting of the Arena of Verona and a performance of Bizet’s “Carmen”, conducted by the famed director Franco Zeffirelli.
